Service Concept
Po Leung Kuk has always devoted itself to expanding the welfare of the elder; in order to assist to generalize the idea of life-long learning for elders, Mrs. Maria Cheung Lifelong Learning Institute for the Senior as the site to establish the learning center for the elderly since April 2003, which can meet the needs of elders to pursue learning.
With the rapid aging of population in Hong Kong and according to many research results, continuous learning can contribute to improving the ability of elders to deal with difficulties, maintaining their self-images and enabling them to live positively to keep up with the times.
The continuous learning of elders can achieve the following objectives:
- enriching and improving themselves
- valuing themselves
- making their knowledge useful and accomplishing in their old age
Contents
In order to maintain diversified central activities, there is health education activity (health examination, lecture and fitness activities, etc.), social health and happiness activity (outdoor travel and festival activities, etc.), volunteer development activity (training, visiting and U3A, etc.) and elder-caring support service (lecture and workshop, etc.) except for providing more choices for members by adding factors to team & group activities, which can enable the members to relax their body & mind and broaden the social circle besides learning.
